Beginning Band Grade 4
Amy Morse

Hello and Welcome to the new Beginning Band Page!
My name is Amy Morse and I am the Beginning Band Director for the Mascoma Valley Regional School District. I have the pleasure of starting our fourth graders on their musical journey of playing an instrument.
I live in Canaan with my amazing family. My two oldest children are in college and my two youngest children are Seniors at Mascoma Valley Regional High School. We have a crazy Great Dane named Koda! I love living in the community where I teach because I get to see lots of students and families throughout my travels around town!
This year marks my 27th year as a music teacher! I am so excited to share my love of music with you and hope that you have a wonderful year and a lifetime of joy playing your band instrument!
Please use this page to find helpful information about your instrument as well as videos about special topics and current lesson progress. Please reach out if you have any questions!
Best Regards
Amy Morse

SAXOPHONE
The Saxophone is a member of the Woodwind Family.
The sax is the youngest instrument in the band, being invented in the late 1800's.
Because of it's young age many of the music pieces written by earlier composers do not contain parts for the saxophone, because it was not an available instrument for which to write parts.
Saxophone is not a member of an orchestra, but is a member of several other ensemble types.
Saxophone is a common Jazz instrument.
